Aeromexico adds Cancún to its five new AIFA routes

Cancun, QR – Aeromexico has announced five new routes out of AIFA. The airline announces that from August 15 it will begin operating flights to Oaxaca, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Acapulco and Cancun. The new routes will depart from Aeropuerto Internacional Felipe Ángeles (AIFA) in Santa Lucia.

The newly announced flights are in addition to the three airlines already on offer. Currently, Aeromexico offers flights to Puerto Vallarta, Villa Hermosa and Mérida from AIFA.

Their announcement comes shortly after the Mexican government said it would reduce the number of daily flights at Mexico City International Airport (AICM). Aeromexico says it planned to increase flights at AIFA after the federal government reached an agreement with other airlines to migrate 100 AICM flights to other airports.

Aeroméxico also reported that in the second half of September, Veracruz will be added as the ninth destination outside AIFA, and flight frequencies to the current three will be increased.

The airline said that by expanding its connectivity network to and from the Mexico Valley metropolitan area, “customers will be able to choose the airport that fits their travel plans.”

With these, the airline will carry out 900 operations per month excluding AIFA.
