Pixel Federation, a game development studio based in Slovakia, today announced its membership in the Playing for the Planet Alliance. After a successful year of historic new games and local efforts to fight the pandemic, Pixel Federation is now implementing environmental initiatives, joining the Playing for the Planet Alliance, facilitated by the United Nations Environment Program ( UNEP).

The Playing for the Planet Alliance is pushing the video game industry to reduce its carbon footprint and integrate environmental activities into live games. By joining the Alliance, gaming companies are committed to making a positive impact on the environment, ranging from incorporating green activations into games to reducing emissions. Green activations refer to educational content focused on different environmental topics integrated into video games. Pixel Federation is committed to making environmental contributions a key part of its strategy going forward; before joining the Playing for the Planet initiative, she participated in a “10,000 trees” project in the city of Bratislava by planting nearly 100 trees in the city.

Being the first game developer in Slovakia to join Playing for the Planet Alliance is just the start of a set of new initiatives that we are putting in place so that we can play our part in making the world a greener place and more. clean for future generations.

Fundamental commitments

As part of Playing for the Planet Alliance, Pixel Federation is committed to undertaking the following initiatives, among others:

  • First, the Pixel Federation will inspire action by supporting off-grid (physical) innovation through education. Pixel Federation already supports and works with a number of key educational projects aimed at supporting education and technological and innovative opportunities for young people in Slovakia. The Pixel Federation’s next initiative is to educate people about supporting our planet and to provide students with tangible and innovative solutions to tackle climate change.

  • Pixel Federation will host network events (in-game) to target its already dedicated fan base, encouraging action against deforestation and ocean clean-up. Games including Diggy’s Adventure, Trainstation 2 and Port City, which have a total of 250,000 DAU (Daily Active Users), will host these in-game events to spur rewarded action and inspire physical activity outside of the game. .

  • Pixel Federation is committed to mapping its carbon footprint in 2021, with the long-term goal of achieving net zero emissions.

  • Pixel Federation will also participate in the Green Game Jam 2022.

Each year, the Playing for the Planet Alliance Green Game Jam brings together the biggest names in the gaming industry on mobile, consoles and PC to educate and empower millions of players to take action for the environment.
